I am an Electrical Engineer and graduated from Indian Institute of technology, Kharagpur in 2006. I have three years of consulting experience in the telecommunications industry. My interests range from reading, blogging, tennis to Consulting. I plan to venture into the Management Consulting industry post MBA. While at SOM, I am aiming to master the art of eating with Chopsticks!

Born in Hyderabad, India, I am an electrical engineer by qualification, but spent 5 years as an IT consultant with an Indian tech services and consulting giant. Most of this time was spent working alongside clients at leading financial services organizations in the US and the UK. At SOM, I’m a member of the Consulting, Wine Appreciation and Education SIGs. Aside from catching my breath from all that’s happening at SOM, I can be found running at Payne Whitney, playing my new guitar, listening to classic rock and roll, watching a soccer match or anxiously waiting for the next grand slam tennis tournament to begin.

Brian is a joint-degree student with the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Prior to Yale, he taught English at a pair of high schools in California. At SOM, Brian intends to focus on the deployment and consumption of energy: specifically how increasing the efficiency of these processes can deliver both higher profits and new services.

Hi everyone! My name is Diana and I'm a member of the class of 2010. I'm originally from Columbus, Ohio but have spent the past six years in Pittsburgh. I've come to SOM having spent the past three years working for PNC Capital Markets in the Loan Syndication Sales & Trading department. I was also the volunteer assistant coach to Carnegie Mellon women's tennis team. In addition to tennis, I'm also an avid runner and in fact, am working on getting a group of fellow SOMers together to run the Hartford Half Marathon in October :)

Prior to joining the SOM Class of 2010, I worked in a variety of non-profits for three years in Mississippi (where I was involved with Katrina response and recovery in various sectors) and Colorado (where I worked in foreclosure prevention.) I have a B.A. in English and Psychology from Dartmouth College in 2005. I'm genuinely excited about being part of this dynamic community, and am looking forward to two amazing years.

Getting to Yale was a long, arduous process for me. I had high expectations, which have so far been met and surpassed. I find myself in the middle of an extraordinary experience, which is changing my thinking in unexpected ways. Through the miracle of blogging, I'd like to share some of this transformation.

I was born in Gomel, Belarus and immigrated to the United States at the age of 5. As an undergrad, I attended Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a degree in International Politics and Security Studies. Prior to enrolling at the Yale School of Management, I worked for IBM Global Business Services in their public sector consulting practice, served as an intern for Senator Sam Brownback, and was a co-founder of a start-up venture.

I'm a member of the SOM class of 2011. After graduating from UVA with a BS in Systems & Information Engineering, I spent the next six years working in International Development. First as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga, then based in DC working for USAID's Office of Transition Initiatives, and most recently in East Timor as the Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Strengthening Property Rights in Timor-Leste project. I came to SOM to refine my management skills and aim to move to the private sector after graduating to work in high technology and/or renewable energy.

I'm a member of the Class of 2011 most recently living in New York. During the past six years I worked at two-well known advertising agencies in business development and account management. I graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 with a major in political science and very few business courses on my transcript. I'm at Yale to discover what I want to do when I grow up and couldn't think of a better place to embark on that journey. When I'm not learning how to use Excel, you'll find me at the movies, at a new restaurant, planning a trip with friends, or on a tennis court.

An English major and former English teacher, I recently traded in my lesson plans on Shakespeare for Excel Spreadsheets and a stack of cases. While I love nothing more than a beautifully-crafted sentence (and have been called a “word nerd” on more than one occasion!), I came to the School of Management to stretch myself intellectually and develop the business and quantitative skills that I will need to become a leader in the education world. Although I ultimately intend to return to an independent school upon completion of my MBA, I look forward to exploring different career paths, meeting new people and experiencing everything that New Haven has to offer.

I'm in my 2nd of a 3 year Joint Degree program with the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. During my time at Yale, I've been concerned with how large and small organizations within communities make environmental decisions, and the frameworks they use to make "Green" choices about land use, architecture, food, carbon and climate change, and investing. My goal is to help communities establish cohesive plans for quality of life improvements through sustainable resource use, employment, and development. And GO BRUINS!

 Mudit '11

I'm a member of the Class of 2011, born and raised in Jaipur, India. A Systems Engineering major from the University of Pennsylvania, I went on to work in New York and Toronto at comScore, an audience measurement and market research firm. I am back in school to gain a more complete understanding of marketing and to explore brand management. I'm not convinced that okra is edible and have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.

 Mian '11

My name is Mian and I am a member of the Class of 2011 (Silver Cohort). Prior to attending the Yale School of Management, I spent four years in the commercial airplane division of The Boeing Company in Seattle. I love traveling and exploring different cultures. I spent the month immediately prior to matriculation trekking through the lush jungles of Central America. I'm thrilled to be a part of the amazing community that is Yale and look forward to the two exciting years ahead!

I'm Mark, a member of the Class of 2011. I'm a British national but was born and raised on a British Army base in Germany where I lived up until the age of 18. Then followed University in England and Canada and work for both a record company and a law firm (long story...) in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo, the latter of which has been my home for the past four years. Interests include music (playing, listening to, reading and writing about), entertainment in the broadest sense, snowboarding, writing, travel, theatre, the arts and coffee consumption.

I am from LA and I come to SOM most recently from San Francisco. I have worked exclusively in arts administration in various capacities. I went to Columbia for college and stayed in New York to help manage a theater company. After a couple of years I headed to San Francisco where I worked at an artist residency program. I am really interested in the managing of interdisciplinary cultural institutions. I love traveling and I am really excited about going to Egypt and Ghana with my classmates this January!

 Bruce

I am the Director of Admissions at the Yale School of Management and a native New Havener. Before joining SOM, I spent seven years as a lawyer, specializing primarily in First Amendment, white collar, and commerical litigation. I focused on large, bet-the-company, multi-million-dollar and in some instances multi-billion-dollar cases. After getting tired (literally and figuratively) of sleeping in my office and traveling for weeks on end, I made the transition here to Yale. I received my undergraduate degree from Brown University, have a masters from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from The University of Virginia. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and two daughters, play soccer, watch hockey (sadly, my playing days are mostly over), and explore New Haven. My favorite New Haven restaurants are Bentara, Miso, and The Place, although there are about 25 others that are tied for second.

I am a student in the Yale SOM class of 2010. Prior to SOM, I worked for a non-profit book distributor as the sales & marketing manager for five years. I have a degree in Literature from Brown University ('02).
